ST. RUN PEARL GUINEAS

PearlGuineas.jpg PearlGuineasChicksB.jpg

Pearl Guineas, which are sometimes called Pearl Gray Guineas, are the best-known variety of Guineas. The surface plumage background varies from dark slate gray to gleaming blue black and is uniformly spotted with bright white or pearly dots, which vary considerably in size on different areas of the plumage. The spots are ringed with black. They have dark skin and game-like, all dark meat that is very tasty. Guineas, which are known as keets, are very active and easy to raise. After about 4 weeks of age, they require very little attention and will take care of themselves by hustling for their food. Some of the benefits of having a farm flock of guineas are as follows: very fine "watch dogs", keep snakes away from the farm and consume grasshoppers, ticks (including those which carry Limes Disease) and other insects.

Keets are available only as Straight Runs from June through August.

ST RUN FRENCH GUINEAS

frenchguineas.jpg FrenchGuineasChickB.jpg

French Guineas are the same color as Pearl Guineas but are much larger. French Guinea breeders have for many generations, intently selected this variety for rapid growth and for year round production of eggs. French Guineas, when fed a high energy, high protein ration similar to broiler feed, will weigh in excess of 4 pounds at 13 weeks of age. They will lay throughout the year with proper light and heat control, but must be artificially inseminated for acceptable fertility.

They are available only as Straight Runs from February through October.

ST RUN LAVENDER GUINEAS

LavenderGuineas.jpg LavenderGuineasChicksB.jpg

Lavender Guineas are a relatively rare variety, which may have been the results of crossing Pearl Grays with White Africans. The entire plumage is very pale silvery gray with a lavender or lilac tint. They have spotting similar to Pearl Guineas with white dots in the usual manner, which have gray instead of black outer rings. Their skin is lighter than the skin of Pearl Guineas.

Since CM Game Bird Farm does not sex guineas, keets are available from us only as Straight Runs from June through August.

Assorted Guineas are the hatchery's choice of all the varieties that Ideal hatches which have not been sold as specific guinea varieties. Guineas, which are known as keets, are very active and easy to raise. After about 4 weeks of age, they require very little attention and will take care of themselves by hustling for their food. When available, as many varieties of keets as practical will be included in the assortment. CM Game Bird Farm does not guarantee which varieties will be included in the shipment. Some of the benefits of having a farm flock of guineas are as follows: very fine "watch dogs", keep snakes away from the farm and consume grasshoppers, ticks (including those which carry Limes Disease) and other insects.

Since we do not sex guineas, keets are available only as Straight Runs.

Assorted Guineas are available only June through August when all of the varieties are hatched
